The National Museum of Asian Arts - Guimet (Paris) is currently organizing a crowdfunding campaign to acquire a samouraï armor. This armor has been classified as a work of major heritage.

This armor dates from the 17th century and it might have been designed for a character linked to the family of the reigning Shogun : Tokugawa (1603-1867). The Tokugawa Shogun were dominating the country from Edo (Tokyo) while the Japanese emperor with limited power was residing in Kyoto. The Tokugawa shogun put an end to the feudal wars ravaging Japan.

Its conservation and its materials are exceptional: shark skin, suede leather, translucent red lacquer and gold leaf.

This type of financing has become more and more common, especially with the impoverishment of the Governments and the reorientation of their priorities of spendings. But this offers a unique opportunity to all of the passionate individuals to contribute to the enrichment of the national collections. My modest contribution of today reflects my love for Japan and for its culture.

Le musée national des arts asiatiques - Guimet organise une campagne de financement participatif pour l'acquisition d'une armure de samouraï.Cette armure a été classée "oeuvre d'intérêt patrimonial majeur" par la commission des trésors nationaux.

Cette armure date de la fin du 17e siècle et fut vraisemblablement créée pour un personnage lié à la famille des shogun régnant : les Tokugawa (1603-1867). Les shogun dominaient le pays depuis Edo tandis que l’empereur, sans pouvoir, résidait à Kyoto. Les Tokugawa mettront fin aux guerres féodales qui ravageaient alors le Japon.

Sa conservation et la richesse de ses matériaux sont exceptionnelles: peau de requin, cuir de daim, laque rouge translucide et feuille d’or. 

Ce type de financement est devenu fréquent, avec l'appauvrissement de l'Etat ou de la réorientation de ses priorités. Cela offre une occasion unique à tout individu passionné de contribuer à l'enrichissement des collections nationales. Ma modeste contribution d'aujourd'hui témoigne de mon amour pour le Japon et pour sa culture.
